Stock Market Competition
Objective
To encourage Messiah students to take interest in investments and the financial markets by participating in a campus wide stock market competition where they will contend for the highest rate of return by managing their own mock stock market portfolio.Summary
Messiah’s Investment Club is hosting a campus wide stock market game in which Messiah students will participate in a contest on http://www.youngmoney.com/stock-market-game/ Each student who participates in the contest will be given a mock account with a $1,000,000 The students will then invest the money into various stocks for the purpose of generating a return on the principle. For the span of the fall semester students will be able to learn by using numerous investing/trading strategies to generate the highest return on their investment. The competition starts as soon as you sign up and ends on December 11. The purpose of this competition is to educate college students on paper assets through the hands on experience of managing their own portfolio. The objective of the competition is also to encourage college students to take interest in the stock market and their financial futures.How to play
- Go to the website:http://www.youngmoney.com/stock-market-game/ and create your own account. Please note that you must use your full name as your username so we know who you are if you win.
- Once you have registered click on the “play now” in the middle of the page.
- Search for the contest name "Messiah Investment Club Fall 2009" on the right.
- Join the competition.
- The competition starts as soon as you sign in and ends on December 11.
Prizes
- One $50 dollar prize will be awarded to the top ranked Messiah College Student.
- One $25 dollar prize will be awarded to the second highest ranking Messiah Collkege Student (all Young Money contest rules must be followed in order to qualify).
- Again, only Messiah students are eligible to win prizes.
- The Investment Club officers reserve the right to ultimately decide the winner of the contest if any unfortunate issues come up.
